Kirby E. Knox, MD

Unlike most acupuncturists, Dr. Knox's initial medical training was in western, allopathic medicine and Chinese medicine. However, since he is now trained in both, he tends to use Chinese medicine exclusively, although he will frequently use western medicine training when evaluating and assessing an illness.

Dr. Knox has practiced medicine for over thirty years, initially as a western trained physician, and for the last seven years, as a holistic practitioner. He brings a strong belief in the mind-body-spirit connection to practice.

A deeply spiritual and caring physician, he feels privileged to be a part of his patients' healing process.

Terri Zucker, MA, PhD, BCIAC

Dr. Zucker is our biofeedback specialist. Her primary interest is how biofeedback training—altering breath patterns, muscle tension, temperature, and physiological arousal—can profoundly improve the symptoms of both physiological and psychological disorders.

Using a laptop computer, she teaches self-regulation skills for a variety of ailments that are amenable to biofeedback treatment. She specializes in the treatment of headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, hypertension, Raynaud’s disease, muscle pain, traumatic stress, anxiety, and phobias. Sometimes symptom reduction is almost immediate—within the first few sessions—and sometimes relief takes longer, and is slow but sure.

Dr. Zucker has a background as a research psychologist with over fifteen years experience as both a certified biofeedback practitioner and as a somatic therapist. She has provided therapeutic services in the areas of chemical dependency and traumatic stress as well as applied physiology and biofeedback. Her research interest is the psychophysiology and treatment of trauma, an area in which she has lectured and published.

Dr. Zucker sees clients in both San Mateo and Walnut Creek.
